This scholarship is about helping each other. I know there’s someone out there that can use an extra $500.
I’ve always wanted to give back, but if I only do it when I become rich, what happens if I never get to that point? Better yet, at what point will I become “rich”? Is there a magical number I should be striving for?
There isn’t. They’re all excuses and obstacles we put in front of ourselves to keep us from doing what we want to do.
What we can do is make situations more favorable and just jump. That’s it.
So this is me jumping.
I’m not well off. I just graduated. Don’t have the comfort of a full time job, just the temporary warmth from freelance projects.
I want to give back and encourage others. It’s not only about the money. The money represents support. Moral support and encouragement. Saying that I believe in what you do. Keep going.
Because once you graduate from school, that support system isn’t there any more. As graphic designers, our mothers might not even understand what we do.
If you don’t need it, great. Maybe you know someone that does.
Sincerely,
Francisco
